Biography of the author's mother - Mary Davis Coburn, daughter of a minister, who at 28 found herself a widow with two small children and no visible means of support. Over-sheltered and untrained, she had one talent, a good singing voice which led her into the rugged and sometimes amusing life of the theatre of the early 1900s. The author was an associate editor of Reader's Digest. Red cloth covers are bumped and slightly worn.
